PostHeaderIcon Why do I always feel like when I’m about to start watching one of my favorite tv shows I have to eat?

This is why my body keeps getting bigger! I don’t know what to do anymore, I’m about to be 20 and I don’t want to be fat into my adult life… and overeating is a bad habit as well, I’ve already made steps with an excercise regimen, but I can’t seem to eat smaller portions or stop overeating or feeling the need to eat everytime I’m about to watch a good television show. What am I to do? Please help!

The most likely reason is something known in psychology as a "conditioned response", which basically means you have most likely trained your body to expect food when you sit down to watch TV, by having set a pattern of that behaviour over time. If your routine is to grab some food, sit on the couch and wait for your favourite show, then your mind will associate those behaviours as going together, and when you anticipate your TV show, your stomach will growl and you will think of food. This is also called a Pavlovian response, if you want to google that.

The best way to break this cycle is to substitue another behaviour instead of eating, such as drinking a large glass of water when you sit down to watch TV. The key thing here is to be consistant over time, because it takes quite a while to break the old habit, and train your mind to associate TV watching with drinking water. After a while, you will find that when you hear the opening theme to Dog the Bounty Hunter, you will suddenly find yourself thirsty for water. Pretty cool hey?

Also, by far the most healthy and effective nutritional/weight-loss program available that I have seen and experienced is Isagenix. I used to be 297lbs, and am now stable at 225 (at 6′3), for the last 2.5 years. If you want some more personal information you can email me, if not then best of luck with changing your habits and getting healthier that way.

Cheers.

PostHeaderIcon Teaching Girls Imagination

Parents and teachers agree that imagination is sorely lacking in many of our children today. While there are several reasons for this, including too many games and programs that donâ??t sufficiently challenge the mind, there are simple ways to prevent this deficiency in your own daughter.

Early Imagination

When children are young, they seem to have boundless energy, enthusiasm and curiosity about life. This lust for living can be encouraged or stifled. While nobody would deliberately smother the creativity within a child, but avoiding questions, not playing make-believe games, and pushing children toward electric babysitters, causes exactly that.

Of course, many books, movies, and programs for children depict young people full of spunk and creativity, but it is far better for a child to find his own creativity than watch someone elseâ??s. How to do this seems to be the main point some adults are missing. The solution is really quite simple.

Girls and Imagination

Girls and boys are fundamentally different. One gender is not better or even more creative than the other, but girls are perhaps more often misunderstood. Reckless curiosity in boys is welcomed, but sometimes discouraged in girls. This practice seems to be fading over time, which is definitely welcome, but there are specific ways to help girls rediscover or encourage the use of their imagination.

Teaching Imagination

Teaching imagination is much like teaching common sense. There is not a simple lesson or mantra to be memorized. It is something children must try and experiment with to fully understand.

Encourage Exploration

No matter a childâ??s age, encourage the child to find the answers they seek. The internet is a wonderful resource as are books and even the world around them. If it is a question you can answer, do so â?? even if you are in the middle of reading the paper or making dinner.

Seek Out Opportunities

Seek out chances to learn a new skill or think outside of the box. Rather than simply playing with a doll or having a tea party, find a paper doll website, like TheDollPalace.com to create virtual paper dolls. Assign the dolls personalities, and have them as guests at future tea parties or as characters in made up stories.

Play With Children

As obvious as it may seem, play with a child, and you can lead by example. Turn a box into a treasure chest or jump on the bed to escape the alligators on the floor. By the same token, with older children, find websites or games to play together. Again, online cartoon dolls from TheDollPalace.com might be the perfect solution. Take turns making dolls and creating backgrounds for each.

Not only will the additional time spent with children be rewarding for them, it will also be rewarding for you. Children have a way of shining a spotlight on what is most important in a situation or life in general. By encouraging the creative play of your girls, you will be opening an entire world to them. Help them find it and explore it together.

PostHeaderIcon 5 Surefire Strategies To Attract Ideal Clients From Your Website

Service professionals create websites to attract clients. They want more than an Internet presence: they want Internet profits.

Your website will become a productive, profit-generating resource when you attract ideal clients who are right for you - those who contribute to your business growth. So your website needs to target those ideal clients and begin to establish a connection with them.

Here are 5 ways your website can develop a strong connection with clients who belong in your practice.

(1) Write with an edge.

Your ideal clients will enjoy the way you think, talk and act. Will they enjoy your off-beat sense of humor? Will they be offended by your direct style of communication? Do they share your love of cats, dogs or travel?

Create authentic content and enjoy meeting cilents who appreciate the Real You.

(2) Explain your style of working with clients.

Okay, I will be honest. I love appointments. I hate drop-in anything.

I am not spatially organized. I work surrounded by mysterious piles of paper and my decorating scheme is Martha Stewart’s worst nightmare.

But temporally I like to be organized. If we have a 3 PM appointment, and you call me at the last minute to ask, “Can I call at 4 instead,” I will not be a happy camper. Of course we all can be flexible in emergencies, but some professionals thrive on last-minute changes and impromptu apppoints.

Communicate your preferences. Phone or in-person? Timed appointments or open-ended sessions? Last minute changes?

(3) Clarify your values.

Are you a left-brained scientific consultant? Or have you watched The Secret fifty-five times and counting?

What authors and gurus guide your work? What approach have you adopted?

Rather than come up with a laundry list of values and attitudes (which often leaves readers puzzled), I recommend creating pages that list your favorite books, music and movies. You may even create affiliate accounts with online bookstores so readers can send you small commissions as they make their choices.

(4) Guide your readers to make choices that work for them.

Increasingly we see sales pages that come with a warning, “This product is not for everybody.”

For example, I sell an information product to help marketers stand out from the clutter and earn money by writing online book reviews. You will not get paid by the online bookstore. But you can choose books and reviewing styles to attract clients and buyers.

But not everyone should try. You have to enjoy reading and writing. You must be self-motivated.

Marketers who offer coaching programs increasingly say, “Don’t bother to sign up if you are a whiner or complainer.” They are not kidding.

Few of us will hold up our hands and say, “Sure, I am a whiner. I guess I don’t belong in that program.”

But an anti-whine statement creates expectations. When clients feel tempted to whine (and we all are, every so often) they will stop. Or you can (tactfully) ask permission to say, “Stop, please!”

(5) Add personality to your testimonials.

Everyone needs testimonials. Nobody wants to be the first person to hire a resource. Potential clients come with 1 big question: Does this person deliver results to someone like me?

When collecting testimonials, don’t limit yourself to famous names who say, “Anyone can benefit from hiring Mary” or, “John’s name should be on everyone’s list.”

Instead, add testimonials from real people: “I had no experience with this process. I was skeptical. After working with Les, I gained…”

This testimonial communicates that you welcome skeptics: you don’t mind answering tough questions. You work with beginners. And you deliver results.

If you’re looking for more clients with those qualities, chances are they’ll arrive.

PostHeaderIcon What are 5 of your favorite 80s movies?

I would say that 90% of my Favorite Movies were made in the 80s so this would be a hard one for me.

The Warriors (1979 but w/e)
Adventures in Babysitting
Romancing the Stone
Jewel of the Nile
Willow

The Never Ending Story deserves honorable mention.

PostHeaderIcon What qualities of books get published into movies ?

i was just wondering .

how come the books that are so well-written and they have great plots, details, storyline and everything but they dont get turned into movies ?

books that are more nonsense and typical are the ones that get into movies ?

how does it work ? what qualities does a book need to get turned into movies ?

Of course no one but a producer, writer, or film studio, or someone in the film making business can give you concrete answers, but we can try to make sense of it.

No book can be made into a movie unless the author agrees to it, and there are some authors that don’t want their books made into movies, and that’s their choice.

I think entertainment value comes into play. If a producer thinks a book will sell well in movie form then they might extend an offer to make it into a movie.

This is my guess.

PostHeaderIcon How to Ease Dental Fears in Children

Many children have fears of going to the doctor and this is also true for children visiting the dentist for the first time. When you take your child to the dentist for the first time, it can be quite scary. The chairs are big, the lights are bright and the dentist wears a scary mask and gloves. You can try to rationalize with your child and tell him or her that there is nothing to be afraid of, but your child still may be scared. The good news is that there are things that you can do to help ease the fears of that first dentist visit. If you are taking your child to the dentist for the very first time, consider the following:

Your child should see a dentist by the age of two. This seems like a very young age, but this is a good time to instill the importance of regular visits. The dentist will introduce your child to the office and show him or her the equipment in a non-scary way. In addition, the dentist will probably talk to your child about the proper way to brush and the importance of eating healthy. If you start taking your child to the dentist at an early age, he or she is less likely to be afraid.

Read books about visiting the dentist. One great way to prepare a young child for the first trip to the dentist is to visit your local library or bookstore and find books about visiting the dentist. Many popular childrens character have books that explain going to the dentist in an easy, child friendly way. You might even find movies or cartoons about going to the dentist.

See a pediatric dentist. If you have tried taking your child to the dentist and the visit ended in tears, you might want to consider using a pediatric dentist. A pediatric dentist is specially trained to work with children and their needs. In addition, you may find that a pediatric dentist uses bright colors and smaller chairs in their office making the visit seem less scary. Pediatric dentists usually see patients up to the age of eighteen.

Take your child to the dentist with you. If you are going for a regular check up at your own dentist and you do not need any major work, think about taking your child along to watch. Before you do this, speak to your dental office and make sure that is acceptable. In many cases, your dentist will allow your child to help examine your teeth. That helps them know what they can expect at their first visit.

Take a favorite toy. When it is time for your child to go visit the dentist, allow your child to bring along their favorite toy, doll, pillow or blanket. Having something that is familiar may help your child cope with the visit easier.

If you have a child that has a fear of visiting the dentist, try some of these tips for an easier visit.

PostHeaderIcon Go Online, Go Interactive, Go Spanish

Immersion, by the student, into a country’s language and culture is by far the best way to learn any language and Spanish is no exception. Some would say that primarily, to gain a good grip of learning Spanish, a good understanding of grammar is required, however learning and being able to converse and communicate first makes learning Spanish so much more enjoyable and many believe that this is now the best way to learn Spanish or any other language for that matter.

There are many reasons why one should learn Spanish, from giving yourself further job opportunities in the many bi-lingual fields currently available such as the service industries, nursing, marketing etc. or maybe you would just like to enhance your intelligence further. There are also a few cheap methods to help you learn Spanish that are fairly enjoyable; one of these is watching Spanish movies, firstly with subtitles in English and then without, never forget though that learning Spanish isn’t always easy and can be challenging but you will also find that it will be very rewarding.

I personally started learning Spanish using self tuition books, and although they did give me a structured study path and a text book education into the grammar of the language they sadly lacked the interaction I felt I required to fully grasp the Spanish language; it wasn’t until after speaking to a friend and fellow student of Spanish and listening to how well he was speaking Spanish, compared to myself, that I realised where I was going wrong.

My friend informed me that he had ditched the books, not completely as they were still useful, and was now taking an interactive online Spanish program instead; and he added that not only was the program an inexpensive way to learn Spanish but that it was a far more enjoyable way to go about learning Spanish as well. Needless to say I was intrigued and decided to check it out for myself and my friend was one hundred percent right.

For me, enjoyment comes top of the list, if I’m not enjoying what I’m doing why would I want to continue doing it and then comes quality for a good price; you must find a course that offers excellent course material for an excellent price, anything under $100 is a great deal especially when the top of the range courses can reach the dizzy heights of $500 plus, but remember you will also need to check out the quality of course material provided; there is no point making a saving by spending $100 if the course material is garbage.

Learning Spanish is Easy

Learning Spanish need not be viewed as a difficult task, because it is not. You can always use the following methods:

Watch TV/ Videos in Spanish - Hearing the Spanish language spoken often will help you to absorb it, and will reinforce your level of your understanding of the language greatly. You can listen to news in Spanish, see Spanish movies without subtitles (so you can concentrate on the dialogues), and you can even watch cartoons. All these will help you learn the language faster and easier.

Study abroad - You can consider living in a Spanish-speaking region. It is very easy to learn Spanish if you are immersed in the language or are exposed to it constantly. Of course, the best way is to forget you know any other language, concentrating only on Spanish - only then you will be able to progress quickly. Conversation will make learning Spanish very easy.

The fact that you are making a new friend will make the process even more interesting and easy. As long as you are motivated to “talk” with your friends, you will be more motivated to learn and it will seem effortless.

Use bi-lingual books - There are a lot of books, which use bi-lingual texts. This helps to simplify the learning process a lot. Many people learn Spanish easily with the help of these types of textbooks. Of course, you will need to read a lot to build your vocabulary.

Use tailor-made software programs - There are many great software programs designed specifically to help the learning process go smoothly.which can help you. Some of these software programs guarantee that you will learn Spanish within three months and are specifically designed for speed learning. Many people have benefited from adopting this method the world over. You can try it out too.
